Pollution in My City
I live in a big city in Vietnam, and there are many things I love about it. However, there is one thing I really hate — pollution.
Every morning, when I open my window, I can see grey smoke from cars and motorbikes. Because the air is so dirty, many people have to wear masks when they go outside. The water is also a big problem. Near my house, there is a small river. When I was a child, the water was clear, and small fish lived there. Now, however, the river is full of plastic bags and bottles, and the fish are all gone. It really makes me sad.
Last weekend, I joined a clean-up group at school because I wanted to do something. We walked along the river and picked up rubbish for three hours. In the end, we collected six big bags of plastic. My hands were tired, but my heart was happy. A small boy thanked us and said, "Now I can play here again." His words made me smile.
I think everyone can help in some way. We can use less plastic, ride bicycles more often, and plant more trees. My city is not perfect, but I love it. One day, I hope the air will be fresh again.
